The British Show Pony Society Judges Conference 2016

Judges Assessment
The BSPS hold a Judges Assessments annually.  Interested applicants should apply to the BSPS Office for an application form.

For SP and SHP Classes

Applicants will be assessed by senior judges and will judge a class of SHP and SP as a championship class on manners, way of going, performance and conformation using the BSPS mark sheet. Applicants will be required to attend two interviews on their assessment of the ponies before them and Rules and dilemmas. Successful applicants will be placed on the BSPS Future Judges Panel. All successful applicants will be expected to steward at an affiliated BSPS show and one day at a BSPS Championship Show. Exceptional applicants with previous significant judges experience on other relevant panels may be put straight on to the panel.
 
For WHP Classes

Applicants for Working Hunter Ponies will be required to judge a Working Hunter Pony class, again using the mark system. In addition, they will be required to assess and walk the course ensuring that it is correctly built. Applicants will be required to go through the same process as detailed above, but successful applicants will also be required to attend and work with a senior course builder at an affiliated BSPS show. Exceptional applicants with previous significant judges experience on other relevant panels may be put straight on to the panel.
 
For Heritage Mountain and Moorland Classes

Applicants for the Heritage Mountain and Moorland Panel will be expected to judge a class of small and large breed Mountain and Moorland ponies judging on manners, way of going for the different breed types, performance and conformation and breed standards using the BSPS mark sheet. In addition, applicants will follow the same process as detailed above, but will also need to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of all the native breeds including trimming and showing rules. Successful applicants will go onto the Future Judges Panel. Exceptional applicants with previous significant judges experience on other relevant panels may be put straight on to the panel. 

The BSPS is particularly keen to welcome candidates with experience of judging on other Societies judging panels.
