Three years ago Andrew and I decided it was time to look for a top class First Ridden for Anna's last year and for our son, Samuel, to go onto. After a long, long search we went to look at Bronwin and brought her home with us the very same day.
Sam and I broke her in with help from a friend, Joyce Wood, (a brilliant dressage rider), who taught her to bend and get her transitions spot on.
Our first season was amazing; Anna accumulated 9 open wins to include Royal Windsor and Royal International Reserve Champion. Sam finished off the season by going Reserve Mini Blue Riband Champion. After a long season we turned her away for the winter and brought her back refreshed for 2003.
Sam started to get a great partnership with Bronnie. He always brought her in from the field, he would put her head collar on, jump on her bare back and gallop her back to the yard.
Sam started the season by winning four international qualifiers, he then, to our amazement, won both the home produced and the open class at the International.
Next was the B.S.P.S. Summer Show, Sam came 2nd in the Blue Riband which put him through to the evening performance. I told Sam to, "Go for it", and boy did he! He rode Bron for his life and it paid off because he won which put us through to the Supreme.
I told Sam to enjoy the experience and felt so proud when he walked her into the arena. When the lights went out and they called Sam's name we were truly shocked, a once in a lifetime achievement. Sam's exact words were, "Am I dreaming, tip a bucket of water over me!"
It wasn't until three weeks later at the H.O.Y.S. that I felt the same way when he won his class. Another proud moment as he came down the centre line. Home Producers – it can be done!!
A big, big thank you to the B.S.P.S. for a great Show, also to Frank and Dennis Morgan for selling Bron and an even bigger thank you for buying her back! Yes, we are retiring her to stud. Let's hope her foals will give a family as much fun as she has given us.
We love you Bron.
