In May 2004 Broadgrove Chatterbox was born out in our fields at Moor Farm, North Somerset.

Her dam, Oldcourt Cantata, was 138cms Pony of the Year and Reserve Champion in 1995. She has produced four foals of which Chatter is the second.

Like her sire, Cusop Domension, Chatter had a very successful in-hand career as a three year old. She qualified, in the capable hands of Mark Northam, for the Cuddy In-Hand Supreme at the Royal Welsh Show 2003 and, after a short rest, won at Horse of the Year Show and was Champion.

After Horse of the Year Show Chatter was delivered to Ron and Debbie Thomas’ to be produced under saddle.

Chatter and her very able jockey, Lucy Loughton, stormed the 138cms show pony classes. She qualified for the Royal International Horse Show at Devon County in her very first open class. Two months later she was Champion Show Pony at the Royal International Horse Show.

As Chatter was still only four, we selected a few classes at the Summer Championships for Chatter to compete in. During that week her wins include the Open Show Pony Champion, Young Show Pony Champion, 138cms Blue Riband Champion of Champions Show Pony Champion and Overall Summer Supreme. This last Championship qualified Chatter and Lucy for the Supreme Championship.

Chatter, as always, showed wisdom beyond her years and was awarded the BSPS Supreme Champion 2004. This ended an extremely busy week for Lucy who competed in no less than thirty-nine classes on various ponies in those four days.

To top off a fantastic season, Chatter was Reserve Pony of the Year five weeks later at Horse of the Year Show.

Our sincere thanks go to everyone who has made Chatter’s success possible. We believe, she really is a star and we look forward to 2005.
