Ponies must be registered in the name of an Adult Showing Member, Life Member or Business Membership (authorised representative)
A Rider under 18yrs on 1st January is classed as a Junior Member. A rider 19yrs to 25yrs must be a B.S.P.S. Adult Showing Member.
If a pony is produced or trained by a person other than the owner, such person must be a Showing Member.
No child under the age of 3yrs may compete
In Lead Rein classes the leader must be 16yrs old or over and may only lead one pony in a class. Leaders in Lead Rein classes with RIHS, HOYS, BLUE RIBAND qualification and at the BSPS Summer & Winter Championships must be BSPS Members 16yrs old or over.
Owners, riders and ponies must be registered with the BSPS to qualify for the BSPS Winter & Summer Championships Shows.
Exhibitors in qualifying positions, who have never been members of the BSPS are allowed 7 days in which to become members and register their ponies (Applicable to BSPS Winter & Summer Championships Show qualifying classes ONLY)
Owners and riders must be BSPS Members before the date of the show to compete in classes with qualification for Blue Riband, RIHS (including Pretty Polly and Heritage qualifying classes), HOYS and Dennybeck Classic. And animals must be registered with the BSPS, except for the Anglo & Part Bred Arabs who must be registered with the AHS. Membership forms and payment must be received in the office no later than the last working day (Monday to Friday) prior to the date of the qualifying show.

Ponies must be four years old and over in all B.S.P.S. classes. The age of the pony shall be calculated from the 1st January in the year of it’s birth.
Any pony that has ever been registered with the BSPS must be transferred into the name of the new owner. A Transfer fee is payable whether or not the previous registration has lapsed. A Transfer form must be completed and signed by the purchaser.
A valid JMB “Annual” or “Full” Height certificate (as applicable) is required to register a pony with the society. (Photo copies are acceptable)
For Heritage M&M pony registration ONLY. Ponies must be registered with the main body of their respective Breed Society Stud Book, (Part Breds are not eligible) and be within the height limitations laid down by their Breed Society. Breed Papers are required to register a pony with the Society. (Photo copies are acceptable) NB. If wishing to qualify for other B.S.P.S. classes a valid Height Certificate must be sent with the application.
