SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIPS TO BE HELD AT ARENA (UK)
All BSPS affiliated shows that give a 1st prize of £5.00 or over are qualifiers for the BSPS Summer Championships.
QUALIFICATION: 1st & 2nd prizewinners at any BSPS show, provided they are BSPS members or join within seven days of winning, qualify for their respective class at the Summer Championships The exceptions are Cradle Stakes and Open Intermediate classes, including mixed height Intermediate Show Riding Type, where the first three qualify. In mixed height Show Ponies, Show Hunter Ponies and Working Hunter Ponies, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th prize winners will qualify for the Summer Championships.
PRETTY POLLY FAMILY PRODUCED CLASSES
This competition is open to all home produced ponies and excludes anyone connected, professionally, with showing ponies. QUALIFICATION:None, enter the class when you send in your entries for the Summer Championships.
PREMIER LEAGUE CLASSES
These classes are held at all BSPS affiliated Shows with “Open” classes that do not have qualification for HOYS or RIHS in the appropriate class. At the Championships Show this competition is split into three catagories – Red for animals that have qualified for Hoys (and/or Olympia) and Premier League in the appropriate class, White for animals that have qualified for RIHS and Premier League in the appropriate class and Blue for animals that have qualified for the Premier League only, and not qualified for HOYS (and/or Olympia) or RIHS in the appropriate class. 1st, 2nd & 3rd placed ponies qualify. These classes also include the Heritage M&M section.
DISNEYWORLD SPECIAL AWARD
Also open to home produced ponies the prize for the rider of the Supreme Champion in this competition is holiday to a Disney Theme Park. QUALIFICATION: The highest placed rider in any of the classes listed at the back of the Summer Championships schedule who is competing on a family owned and produced pony and does not in the current season ride or have ponies produced by a professional producer. Please note riders are required to wear armbands for identification.
B.S.P.S. CHALLENGE
Qualifying rounds will be held at all BSPS affiliated shows. QUALIFICATION: Lead Rein,First Ridden,Open Show Ponies,Open Nursery Stakes,Open Working Hunter Pony , Open Show Hunter Pony, Open Int.SRT, SH, & WH - The highest placed pony that has not qualified for the 2003 BSPS Blue Riband pony of the year or the 2003 Horse of the Year Show in the appropriate class will qualify. If the highest placed pony has already qualified for the “BSPS Challenge”, the qualification will be awarded to the next eligible pony. If after qualifying a pony qualifies for the BSPS Blue Riband pony of the Year or the Horse of the Year Show it will forefeit it’s qualification for the B.S.P.S. Challenge. Cradle Stakes - The highest placed pony that has not qualified for the “B.S.P.S. Challenge” will qualify, if the highest placed pony has altready qualified the qualification will be awarded to the next eligible pony.
BLUE RIBAND
FOR ALL THESE CLASSES YOU HAVE TO BE A BSPS MEMBER TO QUALIFY
DESERT ORCHID NURSERY STAKES
This competition is held at the Summer Championships show and is open to Nursery Stakes ponies who have been placed first or second at least TWICE at BSPS qualifying shows.
DESERT ORCHID BLUE RIBAND WORKING HUNTER PONY OF THE YEAR
This competition is for to Working Hunter Ponies, the final of which is held at the Summer Championships Any pony that finishes 1st or 2nd at shows with Blue Riband qualifications.
JOHN PEEL BLUE RIBAND SHOW HUNTER PONY OF THE YEAR & 122CMS S.H.P.
This competition is for show hunter ponies only, the final of which is held at the Summer Championships. Any pony that finishes 1st or 2nd at shows with Blue Riband qualifications.
THE LEGEND BLUE RIBAND SHOW PONY OF THE YEAR
This competition is for Show Ponies only, the final of which is held at the Summer Championships. Any pony that finishes 1st or 2nd at shows with Blue Riband qualifications.
BLUE RIBAND MINI SHOW PONY OF THE YEAR
This competition is for LR and FR Ponies, the final of which is held at the Summer Championships. Any pony that finishes 1st or 2nd at shows with Blue Riband qualifications.
BLUE RIBAND INTERMEDIATE OF THE YEAR
This competition is for Intermediate WH, SH and SRT, the final of which is held at the Summer Championships. Any pony that finishes 1st, 2nd or 3rd at shows with Blue Riband qualification.
JOAN GIBSON EQUITATION
This is an equitation class open to BSPS and BSPS Pony Club members at the Summer Championships. Competitors are asked to do a set show and jump a course of rustic fences, full details in Championships Show Schedule.
THE GOLD CUP
This is a combined training competition consisting of dressage, working hunter and show jumping. QUALIFICATION: None, enter the class when you send in your entries for the Summer Championships Dressage.
CLASSIC COMPETITION
This competition, open to the Open Show Ponies and is split into three phases judged at the Summer Championships. Phases one and two are judged on a set show and conformation with the twelve highest marked ponies from these two phases going forward into a class which is then judged in the normal way. QUALIFICATION:Certain BSPS affiliated shows are qualifiers for the 128, 138, & 148cms Show Pony Classic competition as stated in their schedule. The 1st and 2nd prize winners will qualify. You have to be a BSPS member to qualify. No qualification required for the Show Hunter Pony 133, 143, & 153cms SHP Classic.
BEST RIDER COMPETITION
AT all BSPS Affiliated Shows in the Open classes a qualification card will be awarded to the Best Rider in each class. The Finals will be held at the BSPS Championships Show.
WINTER CHAMPIONSHIPS TO BE HELD AT ARENA UK
The Winter shows are split into two classes, novice and restricted with qualifiers held at BSPS affiliated shows nation-wide. Restricted classes are open to any pony that has not qualified for the Royal International Horse Show or the Horse of the Year show in the previous or current year. (2yrs) QUALIFICATION: The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners will qualify in all the classes and in mixed height classes the 1st,2nd, 3rd and 4th placed ponies will qualify. In the Open classes the the three highest placed Restricted animals in each class will qualify, and in the Mixed Height class the four highest placed Restricted animals will qualify, (eligible riders MUST wear an armband)
HERITAGE
Open to Mountain and Moorland ponies, this is the only competition for which to compete ponies must be registered with the BSPS. QUALIFICATION:The first three ponies in all the Heritage classes will qualify. In Mixed Height Classes 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed ponies will qualify. In the Open classes the qualification will be awarded to the three highest placed Restricted Animals in each class and in the mixed height open classes the four highest placed Restricted animals will qualify, who have not qualified for HOYS, RIHS or Olympia in the previous or current year (2yrs) (eligible riders MUST wear an armband.) ROYAL INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW
You cannot qualify for the Children’s Showing Classes at the R.I.H.S., The Heritage M&M LR/FR & Ridden or the Family Produced Classes through any other Society. These classes are affiliated to the BSPS and you have to be a BSPS member to qualify.
HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW
You can qualify at Shows affiliated to the BSPS which are qualifiers for the H.O.Y.S. and you have to be a BSPS member to qualify.
