SKELLORN DEJA VU - Kerry Wainwright

Skellorn Déjà vu (Dan) is a 10 year old homebred class one Connemara stallion by the illustrious Skellorn Harrison, himself a multiple Olympia and HOYS finalist. This is ‘Dan's’ first full season under saddle, he has spent a great part of his life running ‘feral’ with mares and foals. Dan was such a dark grey that I wanted to wait for him to mature and his dapples to form before we competed him. Dan is the nicest kindest stallion you could ever wish to meet – which he passes on to his stock. He will be ridden by Harrison Taylor who produces him from his own yard. We are all looking forward to the London International Horse Show.

We bought Sweetcombe Sunmaker 4 years ago. He has been a complete angel, with typical Exmoor traits thrown in for good measure!

He has the heart of a lion as he’s proved with his formidable working hunter career before just flat classes. He is a 9 time RIHS finalist and Olympia finalist in 2017. This year he hasn’t been out of the placings in all his qualifiers, won 2 RIHS qualifiers and won his direct to be attending London. He is a true, old fashioned Exmoor.

He is seen with myself in the open classes and Mum rides him at non-qualifying shows having won 6/6 classes they did at Equifest together.

He is a true family member & we will both be smiling in that ring at London.

LLANARTH FAIR LADY - Melanie Alford

Bred by The Lanarth Stud

Lanarth Fair Lady (aka Cookie) was purchased from the Cob sales in 2019 where she had qualified for Horse of the Year Show.

Due to covid Cookie was only competed at a handful of shows in 2020 where she won and went Champion at the Three Counties Horse Show.

In 2021 Cookie qualified for

The Royal International Horse Show 2021

Open mountain & moorland

Intermediate young rider

Horse of the Year Show 2021

London International Horse Show 2021

We purchased her with the idea after her ridden career she would make a good broodmare with her breeding and hopefully be shown in hand with foal at foot.

Frederiksminde Volcano known as Barney at home is my pony of a lifetime. Owned by myself for 5 years now, purchased from the late Henry Kelly. Barney is by Lissroe Hurricane and out of Frederiksminde Christel.

He has proved to be one of the most versatile connemara stallions around, having a British Eventing record, winning the Connemara pony of the year at HOYS in 2019, qualifiying RIHS in the flat class and workers, going onto win RIHS and stand champion working hunter pony in 2021. He then went onto stand 2nd in the workers in 2021.

Not only does he have an impeccable show record, he is the nicest and easiest pony to have around. Barney will eventually stand at stud to limited & special mares.

MENAI EUROSTAR - Karen Johnson
GB, as he is known at home, is partnered by Adam Forster of the Jinks Show Team and they have had an amazing season. Some of their results include...

1st Midland Counties HOYS Q & Champion
1st RIHS C&D North of England
1st & Res Champ Royal Windsor Horse Show
1st & Champion Simply the Best BSPS Summer Champs
1st & Champion Champion of Champions BSPS Summer Champs
Supreme Heritage Champion BSPS Summer Champs
1st Section D pony of the year at Horse of the Year Show
Champion NPS & Baileys Horse Feeds Mountain and Moorland Pony of the Year at HOYS
Supreme of show at the BSPS Heritage Championships

We are so proud of GB and the season he and Adam have shared, he’s got the biggest heart and just loves his job. We are very excited for London and to be representing the Welsh Cob at the final.

Lovelyhill Folklore is a 10 year old working stallion who has had a very successful season as both a flat and working hunter pony. He has done this amongst doing stud duties.

He’s been with me for 18 months and is owned by Penny Sutton and Peter Rowe.

He was 2nd at HOYS this year in flats and 4th in the working hunter. He also won Royal Windsor in the working hunter this season amongst other county shows.

Thorneyside Guardsman, or Douglas as he is known at home is a Welsh Section D licensed stallion campaigning his first open season.

Successfully qualifying for Royal International in both the amateur and open classes, HOYS and winning the HOYS consistency award.

We are delighted as a home produced partnership to qualify for the London International BSPS final and this really is a great way to end our first open season together.

Douglas is an absolute pleasure to have around, and has a temperament to die for. He is like my best friend and he makes me laugh on a regular basis. When not competing we enjoy hacking, farm rides and we have done a small amount of dressage also. Douglas also enjoys stud duties when not competing.

I am very very excited to compete at London! Good luck everyone!!

'We purchased Springwater Guillot, or George to his friends, as a foal from his breeders and collected him at 6 months old. He is a 7year old gelding by Shilstone Rocks Thunderbird and a real part of our family. We enjoyed showing him in-hand as a youngster. I then backed and rode him on and we compete in a variety of disciplines including showjumping, dressage, charity rides and hunting as well as enjoying showing of course!

George loves going out to the beach or for long rides around the orchards in the Norfolk countryside, he is one in a million and means the world to us. George is incredibly intuitive and we hope in the future he will be able to support people as a therapy pony, helping others to feel better, achieve their goals and even learn a little about the wonderful Dartmoor pony breed.

CARRWOOD ADEN AUR - Ian Palethorpe

Aden started his ridden career 5 years ago. He did one novice season before starting his open campaign. He has since qualified for RIHS and HOYS three times, being placed each year. This year he’s only been lightly shown but had a great season and qualifying for London International Horse show was the icing on the cake. He qualified for RI winning BSPS Area 5 and going Reserve Champion - he was 7th at the final. He won Cheshire County qualifying for HOYS and finished 8th at the final.
Aden has a quirky, unique temperament and will only do things his way. Over the years we’ve learnt to compromise between us, but his routine is the key. He loves the bigger atmospheres and always seems to pull it out of the bag when required.

Danwood Llewellyn is our 10 year old homebred Welsh section C, By Wyken Rob Roy and out of Rivervalley Lou Lou. Llewellyn was the first Welsh C we had ever bred, but he has gone onto surpass all our expectations.

He was a cheeky character from the day he was born and still continues to rule the roost, banging the gate of his field every day telling us when he is ready to be brought in! He has hunted, loves the beach and is a pleasure to hack around our beautiful North Yorkshire countryside.

In 2018, he made our family's dream come true by winning the Welsh C pony of the year at HOYS, going onto stand overall reserve M&M Champion. He has now made another one of our dreams come true by qualifying for London and we can't wait to go and enjoy the moment!

MURVEY GEORGE - Sarah Field
George is an 8 year old class 1 stallion by Glencarrig Knight X Murvey Cara bred by Bernard Keaney. We have owned him since he was a foal after spotting him at the Murvey Stud while visiting the Clifden Connemara Pony Festival in 2013. He had a very successful novice season under saddle winning 4 out of 5 outings and standing champion on 3 occasions.
After taking the novice heritage championship at the BSPS Winter Champs this year we thought he was ready to take the plunge in some qualifiers, he qualified for HOYS at Stoneleigh finishing 9th at the final and gained his London ticket at the Heritage Champs after winning his breed class. I’m so proud of what he has achieved in his first open season and delighted he will be representing his breed at London before tending to stud duties next year.

DUNKERY WIGEON - Maureen Richardson

Wigeon is a 13 year old working Exmoor stallion owned by Paul and Maureen Richardson of the Buttondown Stud in Swansea.

He has been resident with his rider Hayley Reynolds since being a 4 year old unbroken young stallion and since then the pair have won the RIHS, been Best of breed 3 times, every time shown at Olympia and made 6 HOYS appearances.

This year Wigeon qualified for HOYS at NPS Championships, just 3 weeks after Hayley had a baby via C section, there’s no other pony she’d have trusted more so soon.

A typical Exmoor with Exmoor traits. Wigeon is a huge character who loves food and work is on his terms at all times. He has a fantastic personality on the ground and can be handled by children, and he passes this down to his stock.

Hoekhurst Example , 8 year Welsh Section A stallion .

2021 has been Harry’s first open season under saddle since coming to the U.K. from his breeders in the Netherlands.

Harry & Libby gelled together within weeks of him being broken to ride.

They have achieved some fabulous results together this season Winning the NPS/Baileys Section A & Reserve M&M at HOYS, Royal Windsor, Midlands Counties, U.K. Nationals, Royal Welsh etc.

Harry also enjoys his days out at British Dressage Team Quest over the winter months & galloping  along our local beach Poppit Sands.

Nipna Midnight Rambler is a 6 year old Dales stallion owned and bred by the Pennell family and ridden by Sarah Parker. He is bred from a family of HOYS Finalists being out of Nipna Damask Rose and by Nipna Invictus - Invictus has also qualified for the London International final this year in his own right.

Having been very lightly shown in 2020, Rambo has had an incredible first season qualifying for The London International Show at first asking by taking 1st and Overall Champion at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in July. Rambo also qualified for HOYS finishing 2nd at the final.

Rambo is an incredibly talented young pony; the partnership Sarah and him have is very special and we, his breeders, look forward to enjoying seeing this partnership grow and flourish over the next few years - that is after enjoying seeing him competing at the London International Horse Show.

Wellbrow Diplomat (Dippy) is an 11 year old black Fell stallion owned by myself and my sister Louise Garforth.  We have owned Dippy since buying him from his breeders as a yearling and he is produced by myself from home, meeting up with his regular jockey Hayley Reynolds at shows.  Together they have qualified for HOYS on 3 occasions, being placed every time and for the RI and Olympia final in 2019.

Dippy and Hayley were 2nd at HOYS this year just 3 months after Hayley gave birth to her son William. Then at BSPS Heritage Champs they topped a strong Best of Breed Fell class and picked up their ticket to the London International Horse Show!

Our good friend Brian Williams rode Dippy to qualify for HOYS this year due to Hayley’s pregnancy and he takes over the ride for us at London.

EASTLANDS DUNKNOWE - Tammy Heatchcote

Teddy came into our lives after searching for a Connemara for my daughter, Chloe, at the start of July Teddy had won and qualified for HOYS at Three Counties with the previous owner before we bought him. It was lovely to watch him with them at HOYS.

Teddy has had a fantastic start with my daughter Chloe winning at NPS Summer Championships and BSPS Heritage. Chloe absolutely loves riding Teddy who has a fabulous character and temperament. When Sarah won the Connemara/New Forest qualifier with Teddy at the BSPS Heritage it was a dream come true.

Chloe is looking forward to riding Teddy at the London International Horse Show. A big Thank-you to Bsps and the sponsors to have it at the London International Horse Show.

Son of Dukeshill Magnum, been on loan with us from the stud since a 3yo and is now very much part of the family.

He has won the Royal Welsh twice in hand. He is a total showman with a very natural way of going and just wants to please you every time.

Qualified for Royal International every year and made his HOYS debut this year.

TREHEWYD CARDI - Kayleigh Evans

Cardi is a 13yo Welsh D stallion. He has been with us for 6 years, he was owned by David Lorimer until recently when we decided to buy him. He is based on our yard in the North East of Scotland.

He’s an absolute gentleman to deal with and he has a real sense of humour. He enjoys a varied lifestyle often seen out in the dressage arena and flying round some jumps! Cardi adores going out competing, he goes in a real sulk if the lorry goes away without him.

Although not being campaigned much this season, in previous years Cardi has qualified HOYS, RI & Olympia, we are delighted to add the London International Horse Show to the list!

Rekcilf (pronounced wreck-keel-f) Mr. Montagu.

Six year old black Dartmoor stallion, owed and bred by Wendy Dunn, and partnered by Jennifer Cowan.

This year, another quiet one, Gui (pronounced gooey) and Jennifer qualified for HOYS at their first attempt when Jennifer was seven months pregnant.

After a short break for stud duties, and only two weeks after Jennifer’s Caesarean section they won the BSPS champion of champions at the Summer Champs. Then on to take ninth place at HOYS, before the Heritage Champs where they qualified in first place for London International Horse Show!

Born in April 2009 at Sandy Anderson’s Thistledown Stud in Leicestershire. El Toro is by the prolifically versatile stallion Blackhill Picalo and out of the exquisite mare Thistledown Xtravaganza.

He was broken to ride in 2013, returned to stud and then shown in-hand as a six/seven year old by Colin Tibbey of the Lacey Stud. El Toro returned to ridden classes in 2019 under Sharn Linney’s care, this is where Lily met and fell in love with him.

Lily was 12 and allowed to compete on a stallion was a dream come true, she could partner El Toro. This wonderful, joyful character El Toro has given Lily so many memorable outings qualifying for the BSPS Heritage Final in 2020 at the BSPS Heritage Championships. Then in 2021 gaining tickets for the Royal International Horse Show and Horse of the Year Show.

EDDRA CHILLIES - Christine Phillips

Ed was bred by Debbie Davy in the far North of Scotland . He came down to England to be broken in - a process he wasn't too keen on, and to start his showing career.

He has had several different riders over the years and has had success with them all. He has  been to the Exmoor Breed show at Exford three times and each time was Ridden Champion and twice Supreme of the show ( reserve the third time )

In 2021 he struck up a new partnership with Alice Tomlinson. At the Three Counties show in June, she rode him for about half an hour before her class, which she won, so qualifying for HOYS and was also Champion. Ed and Alice have had a successful season together culminating in winning the Exmoor section of the Lemieux final at the Heritage champs. Ed has qualified for HOYS and RIHS on several occasions, but this final has always eluded him, missing out by one place three times I think.

Ed and Alice have a good understanding and Alice thinks Ed is "A cool dude "!

I bought Glebedale Jonny Depp in April 2019 from Heidi and Justin Bennett (Popsters Stud). Jonny was bred by Kitty Bodily and is the best stallion but also a typical cheeky welsh!  He’s everything I look for in a Welsh C, he has a beautiful head and an athletic way of going. He’s a typical cheeky Welsh chap who knows he’s a looker and he uses his charm in the line up with his ‘pick me’ face.

I did some dressage whilst the shows weren’t on and he won every time out with lovely comments from the judges. He’s also an angel to hack and does everything with a smile and his ears pricked.

To date he’s qualified for Hoys both times whilst he’s been with us at the prestigious Royal Highland and picked up his London ticket with our fantastic producer, Clare Fitch, in awful weather conditions in 2020 at the Heritage Champs and I will be riding him at the final.

BRYNCARREG THE BANDIT - Chris Phillips and Charlotte Laurens

Bryncarreg the Bandit came to Katy Marriott Payne's yard in late 2019, broken but unshown. He successfully competed in some novice classes at the start of 2020, but as we all know the season ground to a halt. However, he continued his education and we were thrilled when he became Restricted Champion at the BSPS Summer Champs.

He started 2021 by winning the first HOYS qualifier at the NPS Spring Festival and being Reserve Champion. He continued to have a successful season and also had success as a WHP and in dressage. Of course at the Heritage Champs there was great excitement when he qualified for The LeMieux final and won a smart blue rug.

He likes to have a varied life and try new things and is very happy provided food is supplied regularly !

6yrs Shetland stallion, out of 3 times Cuddy finalist Sharptor Trinity and by HOYS/Olympia finalist Sharptor Laser Red.

Troy is in his second season after a good first year winning many novices and qualifying for RI, HOYS and London International this season. Troy has an amazing temperament and is always happy. He loves going for a day out to a show and is a very enjoyable ride. At home he loves his hacking and going for a gallop across the moor.

We bought Kipper as a two-year-old from a family friend and she’s been the most incredible mare from day one. We backed her at home and showed her lightly as a four-year-old. 2021 has been her first full season under saddle and she’s exceeded all our expectations, especially as she’s just a five-year-old.

Our season highlight was the Great Yorkshire Show in July, where Kipper not only landed the Fell pony in-hand championship but won the HOYS breed class on her first ever attempt at a qualifier. She took everything in her stride and absolutely lapped up the atmosphere.

Some of our other season highlights include winning both the Shearwater and Picton novice finals at the NPS summer championships as well as winning supreme championships at both the Native Pony Festival and the Fell Pony Breed show.

We qualified for the BSPS M&M Supreme Final at the BSPS Heritage Championships after standing third in the Fell, Dales and Highland semi-final. The class was incredibly strong and while she gave one of her best performances the ticket was completely unexpected.

Kipper is a dream pony to do and she is the happiest, cheeriest character. She loves life and just goes with the flow.

We’re very excited to be heading to London to represent both the Fell pony breed and the mares!

Salcombe Starehole Bay was born in May 2014, his sire SR Snowy Mountain was three times in the placings at HOYS, his Dam Haida Maroon was from a prize winning line.

We showed him lightly in hand whilst maturing and finally when restrictions allowed he went to Katy who loved him as much as us.

He is everything I standby in Dartmoors, correct confirmation, small ears and an extremely kind nature which is proven in his youngstock!

Starehole Bay (Cecil) has had an amazing season, winning at the Winter Champs then collecting an early HOYS ticket at Midland Counties. We we’re thrilled when he won the direct qualifier at the Hickstead Derby for London, after that he went from strength to strength, winning at the RIHS and then taking the Supreme Mountain and Moorland title and reserve overall Supreme, such a fanastic accolade! We are lucky to have such a fantastic team behind us and a wonderful jockey in Katy Marriott Payne who cherishes him as much as we do!

Basil is an 11yrs Highland breeding stallion with plenty of stock on the ground.

He is a prolific winner both in-hand and under saddle at the country’s top shows.

NPS HOYS 1st  and Champion 2021

Royal International qualifier 1st & Champion 2021

Previously …

Champion in-hand and ridden HOYS champion at Cheshire

Winner of the £1000 Torne Valley

Been to HOYS 4 times

NPS Northern breeder’s in-hand champion

NPS silver medal champion

Too many more to list …

He is an absolute pleasure to own and has the most amazing temperament which he seems to be throwing to his stock. He hardly wears a head collar at home as he follows me around like a dog, I don’t even put one on to clip him. What will I do when he’s finished showing? Well definitely not workers, as he can’t jump to save his life, but he will carry you over the moors all day long.

What a season 2021 has been for this partnership. Due to Sam’s accident, they started their season in July but won at TSR Qualifying for HOYS at their first attempt. They were placed 2ndat Horse of the Year Show and had a fantastic time in the main arena.

Only a few days after HOYS Jane competed him at the British Dressage Area Festivals final where he was placed 4th. He competes at BD regularly gaining +70% scores. He is a real gem of a pony who always has a smile on his face.

The season got even better when the qualified at the Heritage Champs for The London International Horse Show. We are all so excited to get to compete at this prestigious show it really is so magical and the most brilliant way to start Christmas.

Jim is a 9yr old Stallion who was bought by Richard Waite as a 25th Wedding Anniversary present for his wife Kate from the Nipna Stud. They knew he was a special boy and had great hopes for his future.

This year ‘Jim’, produced by Amy Smith, has competed in his first full open season. Ridden by sister Vikki Smith due to Amy being pregnant, the trio have had an exceptional first season together.

- 1st and Reserve Champion at Bolesworth International Horse Show

- 1st HOYS qualifier at The Great Yorkshire Show

- 2nd at the Royal International Horse Show

- 3rd at the Horse of the Year Show

GEMS MALT WHISKEY - April Gilmartin
Malty was bred by the late Richard Deptford (Parvadean Reply x Brimstone Nerys) After a successful in-hand career Malty came to us as a 2-year-old. As a novice he was equally successful, culminating with him qualifying for the London Horse Show in 2019.

This season he has exceeded our expectations taking multiple Royal International and HOYS tickets, along with numerous championships.

Malty is a playful character on the yard and has a fantastic temperament with a heart of gold, he has a cheeky chappy attitude make everyone smile. He has found his home for life with us and we can’t wait to create more special memories together at the London International Horse Show.

8yr old Dales gelding owned by Ella Morris, produced by Sarah Parker and ridden by Jodie Briers. Fluffy, as he is called at home, is in his first open season. He qualified for Horse of the Year Show at Stoneleigh and finished 4th at the final ridden by Rebecca Penny. He is a wonderful smiley character to have around and always willing to please.

NIPNA INVICTUS - Caitlin Hamilton

Nipna Invictus is a 10 year old Dales gelding owned by Kirsty Hamilton, ridden by her daughter Caitlin and bred by the Pennell family.

We bought Victor at the end of 2018 and he has got better and better over the last 3 seasons. Our highlights this year have been trotting round the International Arena at the RIHS where we won the Intermediate Junior section and took Reserve Champion. We qualified for HOYS at Stoneleigh, finished 10th at the final and also achieved the LeMieux consistency award for his section.

We qualified for the London International Horse Show at the Heritage Championships by winning an extremely strong F/H/D class and now cannot wait to compete at the final.

I have Victor at home and do him myself with the help of my mum Kirsty and lessons from Sarah Parker. He is a big part of the family and such a character; the yard would be extremely quiet without him! He is my pony of a lifetime!

Kaybrook Midnight Comet is an 11 yr old Welsh Section D stallion by Trefaes Black Flyer.

Bred by Helen Worth at the Kaybrook Stud and purchased by Mrs Karyn Thomas in 2014 as a 4 yr old serving stallion to be produced from their home in Staffordshire.

Throughout 2021 Comet has been very lightly shown due to qualifying for RIHS and HOYS early in the year and then picked up his London International qualification at the BSPS Hertiage Championship Show. Comet has been very consistent over the 5 years we have competed him, qualifying for RIHS, HOYS and Olympia.

Comet is a true gent and loves performing under the spotlight.

LOTUSPOINT CASSIUS - Rachel Brightmore

Owned by the Brightmore Family, on loan to Team Ahern & ridden by Lilly Ahern Lee, produced by Team Ahern.

A little pony with a huge heart, together this season Lilly & Cass have qualified for four classes at the RIHS ( FR, Juniors, Opens, Coloureds) and HOYS in three classes (FR, Open & Coloureds)

Finishing Reserve Junior in both the coloureds & Opens at the RIHS, Supreme Junior & Overall Reserve Supreme at The UK Nationals & qualified all his classes for HOYS at his first attempt. Wins this season at North of England, Stonleigh, Festival of Hunting, NPS, BSPS, UK Nationals, North East Counties to name a few
Always ridden by Lilly his 9 year old jockey. A true child’s pony taking on the adults.

I first spotted this beautiful mare in the field at Clanmill Stud in 2018. Her breeders believed her not to be in foal, so I persuaded them to let me take her home with me. However, after getting home to start breaking it was clear she had more than a 'grass belly' and she returned to the stud to have her third foal.

After the foal was weaned in November 2019 we started again! 'Tickle ' took to her new job brilliantly, despite being 9 years old before she did her first ridden competition. She has gone from strength to strength this year and gave me my 5th win in the Welsh section B class at HOYS, and was the only mare to win at HOYS across all of the mountain and moorland sections.

Lynuck the Showman is one of the most consistent section C’s in the country with far too many wins to mention them all. He was the section C pony of the year winner at HOYS 2019 and has been placed in the top 10 the last 4 years at Olympia winning best of breed! Peanut is owned and produced from home, the Lynuck Stud and will be Ridden by Rebecca Penny at the Final.

INVERIN PADDY - Lucy Heygate
This is mine and Joey’s first season together. We started with 3 wins and a championship at the beginning of the year taking us to RI. We got a 6th in the Pretty Polly and had the most fun time at Hickstead.

We had some great placings in the HOYS classes just missing out on a ticket.

I have been hacking Joey, doing dressage and taking him on fun rides all through the year. I managed to break my elbow the week of Heritage and I convinced my dad to take him for the weekend as we had been working so hard at home, he did and now we are competing at the London International Horse Show. This is our first time doing this class and I cannot thank my dad enough for taking him to Heritage for me. Dreams do come true and we hope to do you proud today. I’d like to thank the organisers for a wonderful opportunity.

WISHAW RED ADMIRAL - Simone Harrison

I bought Red as a 2 year old completely untouched, and he is home produced by myself. This is our first open season, so to qualify for such a prestigious event is so amazing! This year we have mainly been competing in the amateur classes where we qualified for the RIHS and were placed 6th, he was the only placed Welsh. We also competed in the Search For a Star final at Your Horse Live this year and we won our class. Other than that we have competed in a couple of HOYS qualifiers and was in the placing. Next year that will be our goal!
