Jennifer Williams
3rd April 2025Jennifer Williams.
The British Show Pony Society was saddened to learn that Jennifer Williams passed away on the 1st April 2025.
Jennifer was the best known and iconic figure in showing spanning over 75 years. She was synonymous with sheer elegance, whether riding in Hacks, showing in-hand or judging in the ring.
Her knowledge was unsurpassed. She was one the country’s leading judges on numerous judges panels, a breeder of some many successful show animals bearing the ” Pendley” prefix, with absolute passion for the British riding pony and hacks. She was also author of number of books relating to showing.
She was one the original BSPS Judges, judging the BSPS Supreme Championship in 2021 and judging up until last year after she had celebrated her 90th birthday.
After the death of husband Dorian Williams, the renowned “voice of show jumping” in 1985, she presented two trophies in his honour at the Royal International Horse Show, one to the breeder of the Supreme Ridden Horse and she was a Vice President of the Show.
Jennifer contributed so much to showing, being a former Council member for the BSPS, BSHA where she was chairman and President and a Trustee and President of the National Pony Society. She put so much knowledge and experience into all these societies for the benefit of members.
The BSPS is immensely grateful to Jennifer for all she has done for the society, we will miss her dearly. Our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to her family and many friends at this very sad time.
