Les Pole.

It is with great sadness that we have to inform members that Les Pole passed away on Wednesday 24th July 2025.

Les was the BSPS Honorary Treasurer for over 40 years. He retired in February 2023 and was presented with a bronze of horse in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the society.

Les, along with our then Executive Officer, Joy Hall’s, foresight and their excellent management of the society’s finances, has ensured the future of the society for generations to come.

Les, whose career as an accountant and in business, meant he brought incredible knowledge, experience, skill and judgment to his role as Treasurer, providing the BSPS Council with expert advice and support.

His wife Kay judged for many years on the BSPS Judges Panel and their children competed successfully in WHP classes, it was this involvement that was the catalyst for Les giving so much of his time to the Society. It was his other passion football, which enabled Les to combine this with the BSPS by organising the football competition at the start of the Summer Championship Show, which is still going today.

The BSPS owes Les a great debt of gratitude for all has done for the Society. He was a tremendous friend to many of us and will be sadly missed.

Our condolences, love and prayers go to his wife Kay, children Mike, Tim and Nicola and his grandchildren at this very sad time.  At the end of many conversations he would say, ”God Bless”.  From all of us in the BSPS who had the honour and privilege to have known you and call you a friend, Les, “God Bless”.
