New for 2026, the BSPS Marnie-Grange Stud Leading Pony of the Year Awards. The same pony and rider combination will accumulate points in their relevant section over designated shows holding qualifying classes for RIHS, (including the final), and LIHS within an agreed timeframe throughout the season. Prizes of £50, £30 and £20 will be awarded in each class with rosettes to 6th place.

Members will upload results after each show on a league table, providing an opportunity to monitor progress and position. The champion will receive £1000, Reserve Championship £750, third Reserve £500, 4th £300, 5th £150 and 6th £100.

In addition, between October and December, members will be able to vote for their favourite leading pony from the top six ponies in each championship, for a members’ award to be presented at the BSPS AGM.

Alongside this sponsorship, Alan Marnie is proud to announce the launch of Marnie – Grange, a new joint venture with respected horseman Jerome Harforth. The partnership brings together shared values, experience, and a long-term vision centred on producing and promoting quality British-bred horses and ponies.

The BSPS has long been recognised as a cornerstone of the showing industry, providing opportunities for breeders, producers, and riders at every level. Alan Marnie’s sponsorship reflects a belief in the Society’s role in safeguarding standards, encouraging grassroots participation, and supporting the next generation within the sport.

Marnie – Grange has been established with a clear focus on investment, sustainability, and excellence in British breeding. By combining knowledge, horsemanship, and strategic planning, the venture aims to contribute positively to the strength and reputation of British-bred stock both in the show ring and beyond.

Speaking about the sponsorship and new venture, Alan Marnie commented:

“Supporting the sport is about more than visibility — it’s about backing the organisations and people who ensure a strong future. The BSPS plays a vital role within our industry, and Marnie – Grange reflects our belief in British breeding and the importance of investing for the long term.”

Together, Alan Marnie and Jerome Harforth are committed to supporting the industry through active involvement, collaboration, and a shared dedication to maintaining high standards across British breeding and production.

Paul Cook, Chairman of the BSPS said “We are very grateful to the Marnie-Grange Stud in supporting this new initiative, with fabulous prizes. This new competition will reward the rider/pony combinations who achieve consistent results across a range of qualifying classes, culminating in fantastic championships, which will showcase the best ponies in each section.”
